2. Red sindhi- Origin- karachi & Hyderabad of Pakistan
- red colour
• 1250- 1800 per lactation

3. Sahiwal- Origin- Montgomary Region
• reddish-brown colour or pale red
• 1400 - 2500 per lactation.

Indigenous draught breeds
1. Hallikar- Origin- Vijaynagar, Karnataka
• grey or dark grey colour

2. Amritmahal- Origin- Hassan, Chikmagalur & Chitradurga
• grey (white to near black shades)

3. Khillari- Sholapur & Sitapur districts of Maharashtra
• Grey white colour

4. Kangayam- Kangayam-, Dhrapuram, Perundurai, Bhavani, Erode and Coimbatore district of Tamilnadu
• Bulls- grey with dark colour in hump, fore and hind avatars

3. Kankrej- Southeast Rann of Kutch of Gujarat and adjoining Rajasthan.
• Silver grey to iron grey.
• 1400 kgs per lactation.

4. Ongole- Guntur district of Andhra Pradesh
• White or light grey colour
• 1000 kg per lactation

5. Krishna valley- River Krishna in Karnataka
• Border districts of Maharashtra
• Grey white colour
• 900 kgs per lactation

6. Deoni- Western Andhra Pradesh also in Maharashtra and Karnataka.
• Black and white colour

Indigenous Buffalo Breeds
1. Murrah- Rohtak, Hisar and Sind of Haryana, Nabo and Patiala districts of Punjab and Southern parts of Delhi State.
• Jet black colour with white markings on tail and face
• 1500 to 2500 kg per lactation. Butter fat content- 7.839 %.

2. Surti - Deccani, Gujarati, Talabde, Charator and Nadiadi.
• Rusty brown to silver grey colour.
• 1300 kgs per lactation.

3. Jaffrabadi- Gir forests, Kutch and Jamnagar district of Gujarat.
• Heaviest Indian breed.
• 1000 to 1200 kgs per lactation.

4. Bhadawari- Agra, Etawah district of UP and Gwalior district of Madhya Pradesh.
• Light or copper coloured.
• Two white lines 'chevron' are present at lower side of neck.
• 800 to 1000 kg per lactation. fat content is 7 - 12.5%.

5. Nili Ravi- origin around river Ravi
• Sutlej valley in Ferozepur district of Punjab and in Sahiwal, Pakistan.
• 1500 to 1850 kgs per location

6. Mehsana- Mehsana, Sabarkanda and Banarkanta districts in Gujarat and adjoining Maharashtra state.
• 1200 to 1500 kg per lactation

7. Nagpuri- Nagpur, Akola, Amravati district of Maharashtra.
• 700 to 1200 kgs.

8. Toda- Nilgris hills of South India.
• Fawn to Ash-grey colour.
• 500 kgs per lactation.
